Sacha, also know as sacha inchi or inca inchi is rich in protein and Omega 3 fatty acids. These healthy little seeds can be lightly roasted and are a complete plant based protein snack with 9 grams of protein per ounce. Sacha snacks are easy to digest, healthy and very filling because of the high concentration of protein and fiber per serving. Additionally, they hold a high concentration of polyunsaturated fatty acids, with 48% being Omega 3, 33% Omega 6 and 9% Omega 9.
I found Vega Savi Seeds on Amazon. They are lightly salted and taste wonderful (nutty and crisp) for being such a nutrient dense snack. Vega savi seeds (sacha) have 17 times more Omega -3 than salmon, which makes them one of the best sources of plant based omega 3. There is also a chocolate covered version, so if I am craving chocolate, I feel good about getting some nutrition with my chocolate fix. (I recently found out that the Vega Saviseeds are discontinued, so that is why they are no longer available on Amazon).
Another good brand of roasted sacha inchi seeds are Imlak’esh Organics. I like these nuts because they are smaller than the Vega Saviseeds are they are really salty. I don’t like to eat a nut that is only lightly salty, I prefer a generous amount of salt on nutty snacks. They have the texture of a brazil nut, and make a great snack for me when I am driving. They are very expensive, though, at $21.99 a jar, so I definitely eat them in moderation.
The 3rd brand of sacha that I tried is from Amazon Therapeutic Laboratories. They are not salted and I will not eat unsalted nuts, so I enjoyed eating them with chocolate. Amazon Therapeutic Laboratories sacha nuts are more reasonably priced, at $26.99 per pound.
